ABE Approved — Street Legal in Germany

If you ride in Germany, start here. The SUNNIGOO G7 ships with its ABE (Allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis) — the German general operating licence issued by the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA). Without an ABE, an electric scooter cannot be insured or used on German public roads. With it, the G7 is a road-legal vehicle rather than a private recreational device.

• The certificate travels with your scooter. The ABE document ships in the box, together with the vehicle data plate fitted to the frame.
• Add an insurance plate. German law requires a Versicherungskennzeichen — a compact annual insurance sticker issued by any German motor insurer, usually within minutes.
• Keep the paperwork on the vehicle. It is the document you present at a roadside check and when you sell the scooter on.
• Outside Germany, CE and EN 17128 apply. The G7 carries CE marking and EN 17128 compliance, the recognised standard for personal light electric vehicles across the EU.

Why the certificate is not shown on this page: an ABE only counts if the original document physically accompanies the vehicle. A picture of it on a website is not something an inspector or an insurer can accept, so we send the original with every scooter instead of publishing a scan here. Speed limits still apply. Under the German eKFV regulation the limit for e-scooters is 20 km/h. Set the restricted mode to whichever limit applies where you ride — 20 km/h in Germany, 25 km/h in most other EU countries — and always follow the figure recorded on your own ABE document.

60 km, Explained

Range is the number riders care about most — and the one that is easiest to fake. Here is what actually produces up to 60 km on the G7:

• 48V 15Ah lithium pack (≈720Wh). Roughly 15–50% more capacity than the 10–13Ah batteries typical of this class.
• A 500W motor that is not over-specified. Drawing less current for the same job than an 800W unit is exactly what stretches a battery over a commute.
• 10" tubeless tires. Air-filled, larger-diameter tires roll with less resistance over imperfect surfaces than smaller solid rubber wheels.
• 22 km/h cruising speed. The faster you go, the more energy goes into air resistance. Keeping to a commuter pace is the single easiest way to hit the rated figure.

Real-world note: 60 km is the manufacturer's rated figure, measured under ideal conditions (rider weight, terrain, temperature, speed and tire pressure all affect it). Expect less in cold weather, on hills, and with a heavier rider — as with every electric scooter. A full charge takes 6–7 hours.

Commuting is where scooters are judged — not on a spec sheet, but on the third week of riding the same cracked cycle path. Three things decide whether you still enjoy it:

Suspension at both ends. The G7 runs coil suspension front and rear. That is not marketing padding: it is what stops a 6 km commute from rattling through your wrists and knees on cobblestones, paving slabs and tram tracks.

Brakes that work in the rain. Front and rear disc brakes with separate rotors and calipers give you linear, repeatable stopping power. On a 27.5 kg scooter at 22 km/h in the wet, this matters more than any other specification on this page.

Important Notes

• Speed limits vary by country and region. The G7 has a maximum speed of 22 km/h and a restricted mode for road-legal use. Always comply with the local legal limit where you ride — 20 km/h in Germany under eKFV, 25 km/h in most other EU countries.
• Wear a helmet. An approved bicycle or skateboard helmet with the chin strap fastened is strongly recommended on every ride.

• Not recommended for riders under 16. Riders under 18 should ride under adult supervision, and local minimum age rules always apply.
• Do not ride in heavy rain, snow, ice or through deep puddles. The scooter is not designed for submersion.
• Do not charge if the charging port or power cord is wet. Close the charging port cover when not in use, and only use the charger supplied with the scooter.
• The hub motor gets hot during use. Do not touch it immediately after riding.
• Range figures are manufacturer-rated under ideal conditions. Rider weight, terrain, temperature, tire pressure and riding mode will all affect real-world range.
• WEEE & battery recycling (EU): this product and its battery must not be disposed of with household waste. Please use your local collection and return systems.
• Do not modify the scooter or use non-approved parts — on an ABE vehicle this can invalidate the operating licence along with the warranty.

How far can the G7 really go on one charge?

The manufacturer rates up to 60 km (37 mi) with the 48V 15Ah battery. On flatter ground at a steady commuter pace with an average-weight rider, that is realistic. Expect noticeably less on steep hills, in cold weather, or if you spend the whole ride at full throttle. Charging from empty takes 6–7 hours.

Is it legal to ride on the road?

The G7 is CE certified and compliant with EN 17128, and ships with its ABE operating licence. Germany is the strictest case, and the G7 covers it: with the ABE document plus a valid insurance plate, it is legal on German public roads. Elsewhere in the EU, the CE marking and EN 17128 compliance are what apply. Laws differ by country, so always check local regulations before riding on public roads.

Do I need anything else to ride legally in Germany?

Two things beyond the ABE: an annual Versicherungskennzeichen (insurance plate) from any German insurer, and a speed setting within the 20 km/h German limit. We recommend a helmet on every ride.

How fast does it go, and how does it stop?

Top speed is 22 km/h, with a restricted mode for road-legal riding (20 km/h in Germany). Braking is by disc brakes at both the front and rear wheel, each with its own rotor and caliper — noticeably more consistent than drum brakes, especially in the wet.

Does it have suspension?

Yes — coil suspension front and rear. Combined with the 10" tubeless tires it takes a meaningful amount of vibration out of cobblestones, tram rails and uneven cycle paths.
